About

Welcome to the course website for Water Policy, taught at University of Pennsylvania’s Department of City and Regional Planning. In this course, we examine how urbanization, climate change, aging infrastructure, pollution, and institutional barriers are all contributing to urban water management crises around the globe. Then, we look for integrative, flexible solutions. We consider relationships between flooding, water quality, and water scarcity. We emphasize integrated water resource management, demand-side management strategies, water portfolios, and decentralized systems. Through the semester, students focus on one city or town, learn as much as they can about its water, identify a weakness (or set of weaknesses), and an opportunity. Here the students are sharing their work with you. If you have any comments or questions, please message me, Dr. Allison Lassiter.
